Teaching Philosophy

My teaching practice is grounded in a commitment to clarity, accessibility, and meaningful engagement across instructional modalities, including hyflex, online, and face-to-face. I view teaching as a collaborative process that balances guidance with opportunities for students to develop confidence in their own analytical skills.

A major focus of my teaching has been supporting students' development of methodological and analytical confidence. Many students enter research methods or statistical courses with apprehension, and my goal is to meet them with accessible explanations, supportive communication, and consistent reinforcement. I also integrate my own research as real-world examples across courses, increasing student engagement with primary scholarship.

Beyond the classroom, I have supervised undergraduate and graduate students through the AURCA program and departmental research assistantships, mentoring work involving Python programming, dataset construction, cross-national comparisons, and network analysis.
